What’s more Southern than a museum dedicated to the culture and history of Mexico? The Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos is one such place, with exhibits on displays from around that country. Even its building has some interesting stories behind it; this schoolhouse served as an integrated facility back when education in Texas was still segregated.
Situated at 211 Lee St, San Marcos, TX 78666, visitors can enjoy a tour of the center’s museum, which contains art from worldwide. They also have libraries with books available for checkout and an exchange where users can freely trade their unwanted volumes to get new ones. There are many educational programs and interactive events for people of all ages, including children’s art classes. Accordion lessons can be enjoyed by those looking to learn this traditional instrument as well. There will also host receptions showcasing local artists’ work or comedy nights where you’ll get the chance to hear some new jokes from famous comedians.
